Reducing Administrative Burdens, b∞λα'y IMO

Through resolution A.1043(27), ©✔≤σthe 27th Assembly in November 2011 adop ↓ted a process of periodic re™≈view of administrative requirem ♥₹ents in mandatory instruments₹♥✔↓, and acknowledged tha'→t releasing resources fro m administrative tasks for Administ≈∏€rations and industry alike, contribut •es to the Organization's¶÷ goals of efficient regulation•€ of safety and security of shipping ←∏and the prevention and c ₽βontrol of pollution by ships.
The Ad Hoc Steering Group fo£♥r Reducing Administra✘©tive Requirements (SG-RAR), established by t βγhe Council at its 108th sessi←☆±on in 2012, evaluated the respons✔↓¶es received in the public £®÷βconsultation and developed ✔✘® recommendations on h'¶±ow to alleviate administrative bur€♥&dens that have becomeδε™ unnecessary, disproportionate or even <★obsolete. The recommendatio ↓₩ns were presented ↑ ♥✔to the 113rd Session of the Council on&Ω£∞"nbsp;December 3rd, 2014.
The Council, in general, ε≠$agreed with the recomme←✔ndations, and took the foll←€β owing action:

A draft resolution to emphasiz✘✔↔≠e the importance of considering a ¥nd reducing administr ↑ative burdens, will be prep"™ared for discussion by the council§✔© at its 114th sessioπλ₽n with the aim of adoption at the 29th↓¶λ session of the Assembly at the end o↔↓f 2015 (recommendationsλφ: 1, 3, 4, 9 and 11);

Relevant committees have ©£ been tasked to further consider a numbe≥ ♥r of issues (recommendations: 5, ↓←✔≤6, 7, 8 and 10) that came up dur ™∑αing analysis of findings at their sess¥ions in 2015;

The IMO Secretariat was request♣♠↕×ed to provide more information ☆'on a web-based information p±÷'ortal that could help allevi®"ate burdens experienced by stakehε↔olders (recommendation 2);←∑

Further information and proposals §<were requested from ★↓ Member States in rel£'≠♣ation to review of non-manda¶π↓tory instruments (recommendatε§ion 10), specific princip↑λ les and criteria for future regu©✘ΩΩlations (recommendation 12); and

Sent the recommendati∏¶∑ons to the checklist for ide§§ntifying administrative burdens t∏σ o the established Correspondence Grouπ★ <p (recommendation 13). δ€↑™;
