2015 Day of the Seafarer campaΩ€ign Career At Sea



IMO is gearing up for t€↔×he fifth edition of its annual Day'₩β of the Seafarer campaign (∏φ>δ25th June) to celebrate the un✔π> sung heroes of shipping across ​↓​the globe.

This year’s theme, A Caree∏Ω₽Ωr At Sea, aims to helpλ₹ address the predicted shortage of ♠ seafarers in the future bπλy promoting and highlig →hting the positive b♦≥λenefits of choosing a career at sea.

In particular, the campaign will foc₩π× us on encouraging young peop§≤∞le to consider seafaring and otherπ♣™♦ maritime professions when makiσ★∞αng choices concerning their c<§<areers or their further education.

The campaign will show ✔"™₽that seafaring is a viable, attractive ♥σ↕πand exciting career option. IMO invi‍ ±≤tes all aspiring and current✘₩₹ seafarers, organizations, ship-o'‍™☆wners, Governments, port-a®₩≠uthorities and general supporters, acro↔↔←ss the world, to share thei¶&ε•r stories about life↔₽ at sea and to be ambassa≈αdors for their own industryλ≠.

Day of the seafarer, §Ωduring 21st-25th June₹∑₽ 2010 STCW conference was ↑∞δ★organized by IMO in Mγ₩→anila, representatives from 4&→α↔1 contracting states and ₽&±¶members from ICS, ISF, ∑∞ IFSMA, ITF etc. partie£₩s proposed to establish Day of tββεhe seafarers, it was adopted on 25←↑th June 2010. This conference main₩✔ly amended the stanards of certifi>≥cation, documentattion £×¶and visas of seafarers, quaε≠' lification, health require≈↑< ments of seafarers, working and rest ‍✘☆hours onboard, added electronic and ele€λctrical engineer competenε‍ce certificate, senior able seamen≤↕♦, senior mechenic competence certi♣×ficate etc.
